A hospitality student from East Riding College's Bridlington campus has claimed first place at a prestigious international cooking competition in Italy.
A talented student from East Riding College, which is a part of the TEC Partnership, has successfully claimed first place in a prestigious international culinary competition held in Venice, Italy.
Ruby Goodens, who is a Level 2 Hospitality student based at the college's Bridlington campus, was officially crowned the winner of the Combi Guru Challenge. The event is a world-renowned competition hosted by Unox, drawing in talented individuals from across the globe.
The event saw Ruby representing East Riding College on the international stage for the second consecutive year, where she competed directly against top culinary students from around the world.
Having previously secured second place in last year's iteration of the competition, she returned to Italy with renewed determination. The college noted that she significantly elevated her performance, ultimately impressing the competition's judges with her exceptional skill, creativity, and professionalism.
During the event, her beautifully executed dishes were said to have stood out among a highly competitive field. This exceptional performance earned her the top honour and formal recognition as the overall winner of the culinary challenge.
Anthony Gascoigne, the Hospitality and Catering Course Team Leader at East Riding College, praised the Bridlington student for her hard work and dedication to her craft.
Anthony Gascoigne said:

Following her impressive victory, Ruby is currently still residing in Venice. She is taking the time to enjoy an all-expenses-paid trip, where she is experiencing authentic Italian cuisine following her international success.
According to East Riding College, this latest accomplishment serves to highlight the overall strength of the college's hospitality and catering provision. Furthermore, the institution stated that the victory reinforces its growing reputation for nurturing talented students who are fully capable of excelling on an international stage.
