A warning has been issued to mariners about the obstruction.
Divers are being called in to help remove an obstruction from the mouth of Scarborough Harbour.
Janet Jefferson is the Borough Councils portfolio holder for Harbours, Janet says a warning has been issued to vessel owners.
The obstruction is thought to be a foundation stone, the divers are going to be used to break up the stone in situ as it's though moving it could cause further problems.
The object is currently in the middle of the navigable channel, Janet Jefferson says it's causing some issues for vessels.
It's not yet known when the divers will be able to carry out the work but the the council says the issue is being dealt with urgently.
