Scarborough Athletic scored a goal in each half, and saved a penalty, to rise like the tide FIVE places up National League North!
High-flying league newbies Hebburn Town have just awarded their management team new contracts until 2029, but Scarborough rained on their parade with Rio Allan bagging the first goal of the game.
The Hornets said he was the one to watch ahead of the fixture, but the defence allowed him through on goal to bag Boro's first with eight minutes of the first half remaining.
It seemed like Scarborough would yet again let a lead slip away, after Murray was fouled in the box, giving Hebburn a penalty.
But Ryan Whitley dived the right way and kept the Seadogs in front.
New loan signing Harvey Vincent came on as a sub for Boro, and impressed straight away.
And with just ten minutes left on the clock, a Boro corner was headed in by Scarborough's Captain Will Thornton, his first of the 2026/27 campaign.
Scarborough's hundreds of travelling fans 'made all the noise' throughout the game.
Despite SIX minutes of stoppage time being awarded, Scarborough held on for a valuable three points on the road, leaping from 19th in National League North to 14th.
A loss today would have seen Scarborough level on points with teams in the relegation zone. The win sees Boro just 3 points outside the playoffs.
Scarborough Athletic next face BEDFORD TOWN on Saturday 24th October in what will be Boro's first home league game in SIX WEEKS!
The fixture will take place at the newly-named MONEYWEB STADIUM, after the club announced a five-year naming rights deal with the local company yesterday.
We will post Jono Greening's post-match interview here as soon as we get it.
