It's not clear if tiers will continue to be decided on a county basis or at a more granular district level.
The COVID Tiers will be reassessed by the Government his week.
the Government has committed to reassess which areas are in which tiers every 2 weeks.
York and North Yorkshire is currently treated as one area it's in tier 2.
But some part of the Area like the Scarborough Borough have much higher infection rates than other areas like Ryedale and York.
There has been some speculation that the government could start allocating tiers on a district level rather than the larger county areas.
North Yorkshire's director of public health Dr Lincoln Sargeant favours the county approach..
Dr Sargeant says there are a number of reasons why working at County level is preferable.
