North Yorkshire County Council has halved it's carbon footprint in the last five years.
The figures presented to councillors show the authority emitted 9,800 tonnes of CO2 equivalent last year compared to over 19,000 tonnes in 2015.
Neil Irving is the Assistant Director of Policy, Partnerships and Communities at the County Council, he says work to reduce emissions further is continuing:
North Yorkshire County Council has delivered a 49% reduction in it's carbon footprint over the last five years.
The savings have come from a raft of changes including the introduction of LED streetlight as well as improvements to buildings and vehicles.
