More people have been to outer space than have sailed single handedly around the world. Scarborough Sailor Guy Waites is aiming to close the gap.
A Scarborough Sailor is continuing his preparations for one of the world's biggest challenges.
Guy Waites will be sailing single handed around the world in the Golden Globe Race which starts in September.
Guy is now trying to raise fifty thousand pounds to get his vessel the Sagarmartha ready for the event.

Guy says the local support for his endeavour has been first rate, but he still has more fundraising to complete.
Scarborough Business Ambassadors are one of Guy's corporate sponsors. Simon Bull from the Ambassadors said:
"The generosity so far has been wonderful and I hope we can keep the momentum going to get over the line with the sponsorship target to ensure Guy gets to the start-line and has the best chance possible of getting to the finish line (in first place, of course!)."
So far Guy has raised just over £21k of the £50k needed to complete the Sagarmartha's preparations. He has a GoFundMe page to help raise the rest of the funds.
The race is expected to take around 7 months of non-stop sailing to complete. Competitors must use technology dating from 1968 when the race was first run so there is no satellite navigation or internet weather forecasts.
