Cost of Living Increase Could Impact East Yorkshire Tourism

The state of the economy might begin to impact on tourism in the East Riding of Yorkshire.

That's the concern of tourism bosses in the county who say there's a danger that the area's traditional holidaymakers may have to cut costs and could stop taking holiday's in the area as a result.

Alex Crutchley is the Council's Destinations Group Manager, he says the rising cost of living could be a problem.

A report presented to councillors said that tourists who visit the coast typically come from deprived inner-city areas meaning holidays for them could be out of reach entirely as living costs continue to spiral upwards.

However Alex Crutchley says the rising cost of living may bring other visitors to the area instead.
