North Yorkshire police say a controlled explosion has been carried out in Scalby.
The controlled explosion of a suspected explosive device was carried out at a construction site near Field Lane, Scalby on the morning of Friday 10 September 2021 following the discovery of the device on Thursday.
The man who was arrested in connection with the incident remains in police custody.
Police have remained at the scene of the discovery since around 8am yesterday morning.
Officers were called to a construction site near Field Lane, Scalby, following the discovery the device which was thought to be inert.
The area was been cordoned off to keep people safe experts at the Ministry of Defence were called to deal with the device.
Police also conducted searches in the area to ensure there was no risk to the public.
