Hunmanby's Community Fridge is being turned into a community meal today.
Hun Free Fridge are launching the free weekly meal at the Spring Café. It will be made from ingredients supplied from the community fridge and local allotment holders.
Joy from the cafe says it's about reducing both waste and creating an opportunity for people to meet up.
The team behind the event say the aim is to produce a nourishing meal with food from the Hun-Free Fridge, local suppliers and allotment holders. Volunteers from the community will help in setting up, partaking and clearing up the meal. The team say there will also be friendly faces and listening ears.
They say :
"We hope to encourage everyone in our community to feel welcome as we are a non judgemental and inclusive well being hub.
As well as the meal we hope to be able (if required to do so) to signpost people to relevant professional or voluntary agencies."
Joy from the Spring Café says they are hoping to hold the event on a weekly basis and to reduce loneliness as well as food waste.
To help the team plan accordingly and safely they ask that anyone wanting to attend he event gets in contact with the cafe.
