Penny Whispers used local feeling on the Covid-19 pandemic to create new song 'Wave'.
The song's video features a series of quotes from people asked to share their feelings on life since the first lockdown in March 2020.
Penny Whispers singer Terri Ann Prendergast told Paddy at Breakfast earlier that a group in Scarborough wanted to come together to help support out-of-work local musicians by putting together an album:
"The idea came from The Sound Of Scarborough who put together a compilation album of artists in Scarborough and the theme of the album and title of the album is 'Survive'. When we write songs we write what we feel and what we've experienced. And we wanted to say something about the situation but we didn't want it to be about us, it's about everyone and how everyone's coping with it. So we reached out to our followers asking them "how are you"? There was an influx of messages. Some people sent just one word, some sent paragraphs. The messages we put into the video. It picked our spirits up and hopefully that's reflected in the song".
