There are calls for more attractions to remain open at weekends in Scarborough's Peasholm Park during the winter months.
The leisure attractions in the park closed for the winter at the end of the half term holiday last week although this year the Peasholm Cafe will continue to open at weekends.
Councillor Andrew Backhouse thinks the council are missing a trick:
Councillor Jim Grieve is the cabinet member responsible for the park, he says opening more features isn't out of the question but is difficult:
A council report said:
'The leisure attractions in the park closed at the end of October after the half term school holidays and ended a very successful summer which has seen more visitors than ever before. We are now in the process of preparing the equipment for winter storage and commencing maintenance on the Naval Warfare fleet ready for next year’s shows.
Whilst the Buttercup Kiosk is now closed we are continuing to open the Peasholm Café on weekends over the winter period, where visitors can enjoy hot food and drinks. The Peasholm community room remains available for hire and anyone interesting in booking this space can telephone the Open Air Theatre Box Office on 01723 818111 for more information.'
