There were call outs for RNLI and Coastguard Teams along the Coast
Scarborough RNLI’s inshore lifeboat launched yesterday afternoon following reports of two children and a capsized kayak in the sea.
In conjunction with the coastguard, the lifeboat searched the area between the lifeboat house and a position about 800m south of the Spa.
Nothing untoward was found and the call was logged as a false alarm with a good intent
Bridlington Coastguard Rescue team were involved in three call outs.
Following an incident to search for missing children on the south beach earlier in the afternoon, the team were tasked at 1618hrs to proceed to Hunmanby Gap near Filey to assist a gentleman from the beach who had a suspected snapped Achilles Tendon. On arrival the casualty was located very quickly and an extraction plan developed. The casualty was placed on to the teams stretcher and carried safely from the beach to his own car for onward travel to hospital.
The team were then tasked for a third time at 2353hrs with reports of a person in the water in Bridlington Harbour.
RNLI Bridlington Lifeboats inshore boat and Humberside Police were also in attendance.
On arrival the casualty was sat waist deep in water on steps by the north pier. Lifeboat and Coastguard’s standing off for safety cover as police officers were talking to the casualty. The casualty was clearly agitated but the police officers managed to persuade him to leave the water and come to a place of safety by the Coastguard truck. Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust were requested to assess the casualty after which he was allowed to leave the harbour area and all teams stood down.
