Scarborough is to play host to the British Isles Short Mat Bowls Championship later this month.
It will be the first time the event has been held in Scarborough and will see teams from Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales compete over two days for both team and individual titles in a range of disciplines.
Scarborough based Bronagh Toleman is from the North Bay Short Mat Bowls Club and plays as part of the England Team.
The British Isles Championships will take place at the towns indoor bowls centre on January 29th and 30th.
The team event consists of 16 players from each nation playing rinks across 4 mats with the combined score on all mats deciding the outcome of the match. The national winners from each country play in the singles, pairs, triples and fours events.
Bronagh Toleman says it's a big deal for the town to be hosting the event.
