Bridlington Town secured a resounding 7-0 victory against Blyth Town at the Mounting Systems Stadium, with Ben Farrar and Ahmed Salam both netting twice in a completely dominant display.
Bridlington Town delivered an absolute masterclass at the Mounting Systems Stadium, thrashing Blyth Town 7-0 in a spectacular and unforgettable display of attacking football on the Yorkshire Coast.
The comprehensive victory saw the home side dominate proceedings from start to finish, eventually capitalising on a red card and a penalty to ruthlessly punish their opponents. The result serves as a massive statement of intent from the Bridlington outfit, who have been threatening to deliver a heavy defeat to an opposing team for several weeks.
The goals were shared impressively across the squad, showcasing the team's attacking depth and clinical finishing. Ben Farrar and Ahmed Salam were the standout performers in front of goal, with both players securing impressive braces. Eddie Kettlewell, Stan Hewitt, and Denny Oliver also added their names to the scoresheet, ensuring the fans went home happy after a complete and dominant performance.
The Bridlington Town manager expressed his immense delight at the final result, noting that this kind of large victory had been brewing for some time after a string of highly positive performances against other clubs. He highlighted the squad's recent momentum and praised the entire matchday squad for their tremendous effort throughout the ninety minutes.
Scott Kerr said:
"Yeah it's amazing it's not even just been over the last few weeks, it's since probably Matlock that we've turned the screw we've gradually turned but yeah the last last three or four weeks and the points we've managed to pick up, I'm absolutely over the moon and I said weeks ago that someone's going to get a towelling you know, we're we're going to put a score-line on someone. And Silsden we probably should have been out of sight and we won and Grimsby Borough the other night we probably should have you know been out of sight and we won and today's come and you know we probably felt we were helped by the red card and the penalty but my lads from one to sixteen were tremendous."
The atmosphere in the dressing room was understandably jubilant following the referee's final whistle. Players and staff were united in celebrating a result that perfectly reflects their recent hard work and growing confidence on the pitch.
Speaking after the match, one of the two-goal heroes, Ben Farrar, reflected on the team's relentless performance and his own personal contribution to the emphatic scoreline. He noted the slight confusion surrounding his second goal but shared the collective joy radiating throughout the squad:
"Absolute buzzing. We knew it that like a battering was going to come for a team and today obviously it came so yeah the lads are buzzing everyone's singing everyone's smiling so it's good to see. First one it was just a lovely striker's finish that just come across and I just tapped it away. And the second one I scored and I saw the linesman give it offside and I was a bit confused so I just stood there. Then I saw everyone like sprinting over to me celebrating and I was a bit confused but yeah it's good to score two again. Obviously wanted to score a bit sooner but it's just one of them things and it's come which is very happy."
