Bridlington Hospital has opened its first-ever Health and Wellbeing Room, a dedicated space designed to support the emotional and mental wellbeing of its staff.
The initiative aims to provide healthcare professionals with a serene environment to pause, reflect, and recharge during their demanding workdays.
Located on the ground floor of the Occupational Health Department, the room features calming decor, comfortable seating, mood lighting, and various resources aimed at enhancing wellbeing. The space is tailored specifically for hospital colleagues, emphasising the importance of mental health in delivering high-quality patient care.
Lydia Larcum, Deputy Director of Workforce, expressed her enthusiasm for the new facility, stating, “This is a valuable facility for our colleagues – and it’s only the beginning.” Her comments highlight the Trust's commitment to prioritising staff wellbeing as a crucial component of healthcare delivery.

The development of the Health and Wellbeing Room was made possible through collaborative efforts involving various teams, including the York & Scarborough Hospitals Charity, Occupational Health and Staff Wellbeing teams, Capital Projects, Arts and Design, and clinical leaders. Their combined efforts have brought this project to fruition, marking a significant step towards enhancing support for healthcare workers. The room’s creation was funded by the York & Scarborough Hospitals Charity, thanks to a grant provided by NHS Charities Together.
Plans are already in motion to establish similar wellbeing spaces at York and Scarborough hospitals, indicating a broader initiative to extend this essential support across the Trust.
