Bridlington Councillors say the poor water quality rating for the town's South Beach needs to be urgently addressed.
The poor water quality at Bridlington's south beach will have an impact on tourism.
That's the view of a number of local councillors who are calling for swift action to fix the problem.
The Environment Agency is advising people not to bath at South Beach for the rest of the year, despite neighbouring beaches, including Bridlington North Beach, getting good ratings.
Bridlington Councillor - Tim Norman - says there is not point ignoring the impact.
There's also concern that Bridlington post pandemic tourism recovery could be damaged by the poor water quality at the south beach.
Bridlington North Councillor - Jane Phoenix - says the town has seen an upturn in visitor numbers over the last 18 months.
The reason for the poor water quality rating at south beach remains a mystery, with neighbouring Bridlington North Beach classed as good and other nearby beaches rated excellent.
