Scarborough Athletic will be expanding their sporting repertoire this evening as the footballers take on Scarborough Cricket club in a 20-20 cricket match at North Marine Road.
The fundraising fixture will be raising money for Boro's "No Battle no Victory" fund launched to help the club's finances during the forthcoming season where the team will be playing home games in Bridlington.
Rhiannon Hunt is Boro's marketing and commercial manager, she says the players are taking the challenge seriously.
"The match will start at six 30. It's 2020. Gates will open from 5 45.
The cricket Club are kindly opening the bar. They'll have a barbecue going, they've got a pizza oven.
It's free to enter, but we're doing suggested donations of five pound.
All money raised through the entry and through the raffle will support Scarborough Athletics "No battle, no victory" fund.
Dom Tear is actually a very good cricketer so he's captain in the side and it is majority first team plus we've got Jimmy and Blotty, 'cause they have to be involved, don't they?
So it's a good team. Some of them are better cricketers than others, so it should be a lot of fun."
Rhiannon says it's great that the Cricket Club are showing their support for Boro by staging the event.
"We're working with Scarborough Crook Club there essentially hosting this event for us by opening their bar and facilities barbecue and doing all that for us so we can make the money on entry and the raffle.
So it's a really good way of working together to hopefully put on a fun event for supporters and also raise some money.
Dom Tear is Definitely wanting to win. He's roped his brother into it as well. So Jordan Tier will also be playing who is a very good cricketer, but then we do have some first team players who've never played before. It, it could be quite interesting.
We'll see how competitive Dom is, but speaking to Ryan Whitley he is very confident that they're gonna be fine. So let's see what happens."
Gates open 5.45pm and the match starts at 6.30pm. Admission is free with a suggested donation of £5.
The event has been sponsored by NIC FM Services Group.
