Whitby Town suffered a surprise defeat to ruin their unbeaten pre-season record.
The Blues had four wins and two draws from their summer encounters so far going into the trip to NPL East Brighouse.
However the West Yorkshire side proved formidable opponents.
They led midway through the first half and fired in a piledriver to double their advantage just before the break.
Former Middlesbrough striker Brad Fewster reduced the arrears after rounding the keeper and slotting in from an awkward angle for Whitby, but the hosts from the division below wrapped up victory with two more before the end.
Whitby Town begin their NPL Premier campaign this coming Saturday with a trip to one of last season's play-off semi-finalists Matlock Town.
