Whitby Town started their pre-season with a 3-0 success.
Playing opponents three divisions below them in Billingham Town, Gary Liddle's men led when former Scarborough Athletic striker Jake Charles latched onto Alex Nelson's long ball to force past the Town keeper.
They dominated after the interval too, as an own goal doubled their advantage and one of three trialists then set up another ex-Boro man in Michael Woods. Woods saw his shot saved but Matty Tymon fired in the loose ball.
Liddle spoke to Whitby Town TV after the final whistle:
Whitby host Hartlepool United, at the Towbar Express Stadium, next Saturday.
