After coming from behind to draw 1-1 at Bamber Bridge, Whitby battled to hold another promotion hopeful in NPL Premier.
Both Whitby and visitors Warrington Rylands had their chances in this engaging encounter.
Town had the clearest chance of the opening stages with Layton Watts going one-on-one with the Ryands stopper, who spread himself well to save and moments later, Matty Tymon headed inches wide from Jarret Rivers' right-wing cross.
Harley Dawson brilliantly slid in to deny the away side, but the Cheshire outfit didn't have to wait long to make their pressure count as a determined move down the right saw the ball forced home on the turn, six minutes before half-time.
Their keeper off a superb save to deny Jake Charles early in the second half. Watts curled wide before bringing a terrific tip over from a 20-yard free-kick. Watts' then turned provider to great effect with a near-post left-wing corner that was nodded in by Tymon for 1-1.
Whitby huffed and puffed late on, but it was Rylands who nearly nicked it but for Shane Bland's tremendous stop deep into added time.
STAR MAN: Layton Watts (Whitby Town)
