A bingo club in Bridlington has dished out a £50,000 top prize.
Sharon O'Brien was playing at Regal Bingo in Bridlington on Thursday afternoon, 8th June, when all her numbers came up on the National Bingo Game and she scooped the top prize of £50,000.
Sharon along with her husband own a caravan and visit Bridlington a few times a year whilst staying at a campsite nearby.
They have known Tim and Nikki, the club owners and directors, for years and have visited the club many times since they opened the club, in July 2021. She is still deciding what they might do with the windfall.
Sharon said:
“We love coming to the club when visiting the area and catching up with Tim and Nikki. I love coming to the club as bingo is a great way to spend time in a relaxed environment, meet friends and have a bite to eat. The team here are fantastic and know everyone by our personal names.
"I was absolutely shocked when Tim confirmed I had won the jackpot of £50,000, initially I thought the prize money was £1,000. I was floored! I will be paying off my car, then taking time to decide how to spend the money… it really is life changing for us as I head towards retirement”.
Tim Clark, Director at Regal Bingo Bridlington commented:
“It was a regular Saturday afternoon session, when suddenly it became anything other than regular: the atmosphere changed instantly, as soon as the £50,000 Jackpot win was confirmed and there was a buzz in the evening too, as players talked about the win.
"Sharon is a lovely lady, it is not often her and her husband Nigel get chance to visit in the afternoon, the bingo gods must have been watching them! We are thrilled for her and how this win will change her life."
