There's a big sleep out for a Scarborough charity at the end of the month.
The Rainbow Centre have been kindly offered Northstead School as the venue to draw attention to the plight of homeless people in the area.
Volunteers can be sponsored to sleep out in the elements.
Here's Rainbow Centre Fundraiser Officer James Howard:

The Rainbow Centre stated:
'The goal of this event is to raise both awareness of homelessness and rough sleeping. Participants will be sponsored for spending a night under the stars on the school playing field. This will raise much needed funds for The Rainbow Centre, helping us continue our vital work within the local community.'
Event Highlights:
· Sign-up fee: £10 per adult (children attend for free)
· Sleeping arrangements: Sleeping bags only – no tents – to give participants a small taste of what those experiencing homelessness endure every night
· Entertainment: A film screening on our outdoor cinema screen before lights out
· Food: Bring your own picnic, but a soup kitchen will be present later in the evening.
The charity added:
“We’ve been planning the Big Sleep Out for a while, and now that our Rainbow Ball in June is behind us, we can give it our full attention. We’re really hoping for strong participation to help raise awareness about the serious issue of homelessness in Scarborough and the surrounding areas. The event offers just a small glimpse into what rough sleeping is like—participants will only be allowed sleeping bags, no tents. I encourage everyone to get involved, sign up, and support The Rainbow Centre through sponsorship and spreading the word.”
James says there's been plenty of interest:
