He cycled 100 miles in a day yesterday with Paddy from This Is The Coast, raising money for Saint Catherine's and Together For Short Lives.
The pair were joined on the route by keen cyclist Henry Digby and Jim Gleeson, one of Alan's colleagues from Des Winks.
Alan decided to cycle 100 miles in a day after taking up the sport following two heart attacks before the age of 50.
They completed the ride in a cycling time of just under 8 hours in, at times, challenging weather conditions as Alan told This Is The Coast this morning:
Through donations from family, friends, Des Winks work colleagues and This Is The Coast listeners, Alan has raised nearly £2,000 for the challenge, which Alan completed on his 61st birthday. He says he's overwhelmed by the support:
