Flood Warnings start soon, ahead of this afternoon's high tides along the Yorkshire Coast
The areas affected by the warning in Whitby are the harbour area including Abrahams Quay, Pier Road, New Quay Road, Church Street, Campion Dock and Bagdale Road.
The warning, issued by the Environment Agency reads:
High tides and forecast weather conditions are expected to cause flooding Today. Flooding is expected on Sunday 30/03/2025, between 4:00 PM- 6:45 PM.
The Whitby Harbour areas are most at risk, including Abraham's Quay, Pier Road, New Quay Road, Church Street, Campion Dock and Bagdale Road. We will continue to monitor levels closely. Stay away from beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads, as large waves and sea spray will be dangerous. Consider enacting your flood plan.
There are also Flood Warnings in Bridlington for Harbour Road and the Floral Pavillion and the South Pier.
The first, for Harbour Road and the Floral Pavilion reads:
High tides and strong winds are expected to cause flooding from overtopping waves and wind-blown spray between 5:00PM and 7:00 PM today, Sunday 30/03/2025.
Flooding is expected to affect areas around Harbour Road and the Floral Pavilion. Stay away from beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads, as large waves and sea spray will be dangerous. Consider enacting your flood plan.
The second, for South Pier, reads:
Flooding is expected to affect areas around the South Pier, Chicken Run Jetty and adjacent car parks off South Cliff Road. Stay away from beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads, as large waves and sea spray will be dangerous. Consider enacting your flood plan.

There is also a Flood Warning for Hornsea:
High tides and strong winds are expected to cause flooding between 4:30 PM and 8:30PM today, Sunday 30/03/2025.
Flooding is expected to affect areas on Marine Drive, along South Promenade, Hornsea Burton Road and along Stream Dike and Foss Beck. Stay away from beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads, as large waves and sea spray will be dangerous. Consider enacting your flood plan.
There are also Flood Alerts for the Yorkshire Coast between Staithes and Whitby, including the tidal River Esk and also Skipsea further down the coast.
