The NHS in the county have warned of impatience and frustration at longer wait times being taken out on receptionists and other patient-facing staff at doctors surgeries.
A number of Doctors surgeries in North Yorkshire say their reception and admin teams are being subjected to increasing levels of hostility and verbal abuse.
Health bosses say there is a lot of demand for GP services at the moment leading to longer wait times for appointments.
Amanda Bloor from the NHS says some patients seem to be venting their frustration on the admin staff:
Demand for NHS services in North Yorkshire is beginning to surpass pre-covid levels, leading to longer wait times for appointments especially at GP surgeries.
Amanda says they are encouraging patients to use other services like 111 and the NHS App when possible:
