A landslip earlier in the week is thought to have deposited 200 tonnes of material on the beach.
Staithes Coastguard Rescue Team were tasked to to investigate the landslides and cliff falls at Runswick Bay.
Say they say there has been a significant landslip which is estimated to be in excess of 200 tonnes that has fallen onto the beach.
The team say risks to the public include;
- the potential of further cliff falls including rock and mud which continues to fall,
- potential of people being cut off by the tide beyond the land slip
- and very wet mud which would be impossible to walk through.
The rescue team say
"We continue to repeat our warnings that visitors to the coast should keep away from cliff edges and the base of cliffs due to continued erosion.
Our guidance would be to stay away from the base of the cliff the same distance as the cliff height, and to remain on designated cliff paths away from cliff edges, check tide times and stay keep away from any landslides including mud.
For coastal emergencies, if you see anyone in danger and to report coastal erosion dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard."
