The staycation boom seems to be continuing for Filey
The data comes from accommodation booking marketplace HomeToGo who say they have seen a 162% uplift in people searching for accommodation in Filey this year.
It places the town 7th in the list of UK holiday destinations.
The companies 2022 summer travel forecast data shows that there has been a return to foreign holidays with 52% of searches for summer holiday rentals being for international destinations up from 26% last year.
But the data shows that demand for UK holidays remains strong. 50% of British participants in HomeToGo's consumer survey stated that they plan to visit UK destinations for trips in 2022, with another 12% choosing to stay hyper-local and holiday within their region of residence.
62% of British travellers say they plan to visit beaches in the coming months according to the data with coastal locations such as Filey, Lyme Regis in Dorset, Hunstanton in Norfolk and Bamburgh in Northumberland accounting for eight of the UK's top 10 trending domestic locations for the high season, with Cornwall, Devon and Norfolk keeping their positions as the most-searched counties for summer.

The findings are based on observed global searches and bookings made through HomeToGo from 1st January 2022 - 20th April 2022 with a check-in date for summer 2022 (21st June 2022 - 23rd September 2022), and compared with the same booking time frame in 2021 with a check-in date for summer 2021 (21st June 2021 - 23rd September 2021). Data was collected on 20th April 2022. Additional research was conducted by HomeToGo among a sample of 1,900 respondents in the United Kingdom, Germany, and the United States between 22nd March 2022 - 11th April 2022.
