The parents of a seven-year-old girl who was severely injured in the 2023 Parnell Square attack in Dublin have spoken of their joy after welcoming a baby into their family.
The mother, who, like her daughter, cannot be identified for legal reasons, told Sky News that the beautiful boy was born four months ago.
"It was tough even thinking about having a second child, considering what happened. But we thought it would benefit all of us", she said.
The mother shared a photo of her two children sharing a bed surrounded by toys, and said that her daughter "loves him". The baby boy has been given a name honouring his father's heritage.
"She is an amazing big sister, as she keeps a watchful eye on him", she added.

Her daughter was left with a life-changing brain injury after being stabbed in the heart by Riad Bouchaker in the attack in November 2023.
The crime sparked an evening of unprecedented rioting in Dublin city centre.
Two weeks ago, Bouchaker, a 52-year-old originally from Algeria, was convicted of all eight charges against him, including the attempted murder of three children.
He will be sentenced later this year.
The girl's mother told Sky News of her "relief" at the guilty verdicts handed down by the jury. She said she bore no anger towards the attacker, although she feels her family will never have full closure.
