Second man arrested on suspicion of murder after woman stabbed to death

A second man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was killed in a stabbing in Manchester.

Alisha Samuels, 26, was found with serious stab wounds by officers who were called to reports of a "disturbance" in Dorking Avenue at around 2am on Thursday.

She was pronounced dead at the scene, Greater Manchester Police said.

A 26-year-old man was arrested on Monday in Merseyside on suspicion of murder and he is being held in custody for questioning, the force added.

Four arrests after officer shot

A 25-year-old man was previously arrested, but police said on Friday he is "no longer being treated as a suspect for murder".

He has since been released on police bail.

The force also called for members of the public "not to speculate" about the circumstances of Ms Samuels' death while the investigation is ongoing.

Detective Chief Inspector Justin Bryant, senior investigating officer at GMP, said: "We are still seeking information for Alisha's heartbreaking death, and a number of our teams are dedicated to locate those we believe were involved.

"We have another man in custody, but our investigation is not over. We are working tirelessly to establish the full circumstances of this attack, and to provide Alisha's family with some answers.

"My thoughts remain with them as they navigate this tremendous loss."

Police urged anyone with information that could help the investigation to come forward.
