Five people escape and two injured after building collapses in Oldham

Two people have been taken to hospital after a building partially collapsed in Oldham, Greater Manchester.

e injuries are "not believed to be life-threatening," the North West Ambulance Service said.

Emergency services were called at 12.30pm to King Street over reports of a partially collapsed building.

Five people managed to escape from the building, which was covered in scaffolding, before fire crews arrived.

Three fire engines, ambulances, police, air ambulance and a hazardous area response team were among those on site, with a police cordon in place.

Several road closures are in place, and Greater Manchester Police are asking people to avoid the area where possible.

The incident caused damage to a gas main, and engineers from Cadent Gas are now onsite and working to isolate the gas supply to the property.

The emergency response is being led by Greater Manchester Fire Rescue Service.

"Crews remain in attendance at this time."

Greater Manchester's tram services are affected, with no service between Freehold and Oldham Mumps.
