Sunday afternoon has a Met Office Yellow Weather Warning in place for thunder and heavy rain covering the whole country, including the Yorkshire Coast.
The Met Office has issued a weather warning from 12 noon until 12 midnight Monday morning.
It includes the Yorkshire Coast as storms are set to end the recent heatwave across the country.
The Met Office stated the following:
Heavy rain and thunderstorms on Sunday will bring a chance of disruption to parts of England and Wales.
What to expect
- Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and possible road closures
- Flooding of homes and businesses could happen quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds
- Fast flowing or deep floodwater is possible, perhaps temporarily cutting off one or two communities
- Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services
- Power cuts might occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost
