Yorkshire Coast Cricket Round-up

It was a very busy weekend of cricket on the Yorkshire Coast.

In Championship East, Scarborough's batsmen thrilled the crowd at North Marine Road.

Boro posted 300/5 from 50 overs after Dan Artley made 76, with Taryn Moses adding 58 and Ben Squires 51.

Visitors South Holderness were then skittled for 223.

Archie Hammond starred with 5/49 in the 77-run victory.

Elsewhere in the division, struggling Hornsea picked up an important win in a close clash at Scalby.

The visitors batted first with Doug Griebenouw adding 103 and Richard Medforth 60 as Hornsea made 242.

Scalby's Jack Felton took 4/54.

When it came to batting, Dave Morris' 80 wasn't quite enough to take Scalby to victory.

They fell 22 runs short as Gribenouw completed a fine all-round display with 5/25 with the ball.

Driffield 2nds remain top of the pile after a comfortable win at Seamer & Irton.

Seamer were skittled for just 162 in exactly 33 overs, Pierz Cyster top scoring with 41.

Messers Ezard and Robinson took four wickets each for Driff, who then eased to a nine-wicket win.

Skipper Owen Goldsworthy finished not out 88 with Nick Dobbin unbeaten on 60.

Folkton & Flixton suffered an eight-wicket humbling at Beverley 2nds, despite 100 exactly from captain Harry Walmsley.

Charlie Colley grabbed two wickets but no other scalps were taken as Beverley got home by eight wickets in 36 overs.

Wykeham suffered the same fate after being asked to bat first by visitors Sutton-on-Hull.

They were shot out for 175, despite Harry Amstell's 72.

Amstell managed a wicket but Sutton got home comfortably.

In Premier 2, Bridlington lost out in a thriller at Acomb.

Brid chose to bat first with skipper Casey Rudd making 53 in their 212 all out.

There were then two wickets each for Calum Hatton and Ben Traves but Acomb got home with just three wickets to spare.

It was another tight one in North Yorkshire South Durham Division Two as Whitby lost by 20 runs at the Turnbull Ground.

Visitors Shildon Railway posted 178/9, with two wickets each for Chris Knight, Alf Jacobs, Mark Jackson and skipper Tom Steyert.

Theo Clarke then top-scored with 41 but Whitby were dismissed for just 158 in reply.

Driffield were also defeated in Yorkshire Premier North.

Jack Redshaw struck 69 as Driff batted first and posted 219/7 from their 50 overs.

Visitors Harrogate got home by five wickets despite Alec Drury taking 2/43.

Malton & Old Malton lost a thriller by one wicket at Clifton Alliance in Championship Central.

The visitors were bundled out for 132 despite Charlie Allot's 62.

Malton then stunned their hosts by reducing them to nine wickets down.

Adam Durrant (4/26) and Sharad Jessani (3/22) led the way but the York side edged home by the skin of their teeth in the penultimate over.

It was a run-fest at Osbaldwick, in the same division, but Pickering came out on the losing side.

After posting 295/9 from their 50 overs, helped by Tim Whincup's 76, 54 not out from skipper Joe Harland and wicket-keeper 49 from Max Harland, the visitors must have felt confident in pushing the home side close.

However, Osbaldwick got home with just two wickets down and more than five overs left.
