Whitby Town won for the first time under manager Gary Liddle despite Prescot Cables netting a minute from time.
The Seasiders went in 2-0 up at half-time after goals from Connor Smith and Stephen Walker against their Merseyside opponents.
Cables then jangled nerves with an 89th-minute goal of their own, but Town held out.
Liddle spoke to Whitby Town TV at full-time:
The Blues are back at the Towbar Express Stadium, when they host FA Cup stars Gainsborough Trinity on Tuesday.
