Snow has fallen onto already frozen and in places very icey surfaces.
Pedestrians are being warned to be careful walking on snowy pavements which could be hiding a layer of ice underneath.
Drivers are also being warned to only go on essential journeys and to drive to the conditions as snow showers feed in off the North Sea once more.
The weekend looks dry and cold until snow arrives on Sunday, quickly turning to rain and milder air breaks through.
