Scarborough Sailor, Guy Waites, is less than five thousand miles away from completing his solo circumnavigation of the globe.
Guy set off from France last September as part of the Golden Globe yacht race, he was forced to drop out of the race in December but has continued with his round the world challenge.
Guy has now passed Cape Horn in South America and says he is making good progress northwards.
Guy says that passing Cape Horn was a major moment in the journey marking the point at which he could finally turn Northwards and towards warmer conditions, but he says passing the cape didn't come with out it's own drama.
Guy is now heading north back to his starting point of Les Sables d’Olonne in France, he is currently sailing up the eastern side of South America and says conditions are improving.
