"The Stars Aligned" to enable Scarborough College and Scarborough Rugby Club to sign former England International Ben Foden.
Former England Rugby international, Ben Foden, has joined both Scarborough Rugby Club and Scarborough College.
Foden will be Director of Rugby at the College and Head Coach at Scarborough Rugby Club.
The clubs assistant director of Rugby - Phil Watson - says it's a massive boost for Scarborough.
Phil says securing Ben's services is a great result for both organisations and is the result of some fortuitous timing.
Ben Foden has played 34 time for England asd twice for the England U21 team. He played his club rugby for Sale Sharks and Northampton Saints before moving to the USA in 2019 joining Rugby United New York.
Phil says it's not yet know exactly when Ben will be arriving from teh US but the intention is to have him in place for the pr-season.
The news of Ben Foden's move to Scarborough was released at lunchtime yesterday. Phil says there was a very bouyant atmosphere around the club yesterday and at last nights training session.
At Scarborough College, Foden will lead the school’s rugby programme, inspiring young players and fostering excellence on and off the pitch.
Guy Emmett, Headmaster of Scarborough College, said:
“We are thrilled to welcome Ben Foden to Scarborough College. His experience at the highest levels of international rugby will be invaluable, not only in further raising the standard of our rugby programme but also in inspiring our students to aim high and develop a winning mindset. Ben’s leadership and commitment to excellence align perfectly with the College’s values, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact he will have both on and off the field.”
