A Scarborough man will be taking part in the London marathon today.
Connor Lawlor will be running his first ever marathon to raise funds for Guide Dogs.
Connor says he chose to run for the charity Guide Dogs after meeting his grans friend Stan.
Today's 26 mile run across London will the first time Connor has taken part in a full marathon
Conner says that throughout his training he hasn't actually completed a full 26 miles, he's hoping today will be the day.
Connor hopes to complete the 26 miles in under 4 hours.
Connor says the experience of preparing for the marathon has been a real education both in terms of the fitness regime required to compete in the race but also, through meeting Stan, into the life of Guide Dogs.
The Charity exists to provide life-changing services to the 360,000 people who are registered blind or partially sighted, and the two million people in the UK living with sight loss.
Connor said:
“The charity carries out some really amazing work but it doesn’t have huge exposure like the larger, well-known charities, and that is why I have chosen to run for them.
Connor has already passed his £2,000 fundraising target and hopes now to raise as much as possible for Guide Dogs.
