A team of gym-goers from Scarborough have set themselves a big challenge to raise much needed funds for a local charity.
The challenge is three peaks in under 12 hours for members of ChrisFit Gym. 39 gym-goers will be out of bed next Saturday at 5am and climbing 3 mountains in less than half a day.
Lindsay Cable, a member of ChrisFit Gym, is organising the event and said that it will be a gruelling challenge and they really wanted to push themselves. The event is all in aid of local charity St Catherine’s Hospice who need £5 million per year to run care for their patients.
Lindsay explains why they chose St Catherine’s:
To complete Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge you must ascend the mountains of Whernside, Ingleborough and Pen-y-ghent, a combined 2,153 metres, in under 12 hours. Lindsay and the team want to push the challenge and complete in under 11 hours.
The challenge is a total of 24.5 miles of walking, and Lindsay says it isn’t for the feint hearted:
The target for Lindsay and ChrisFit is £2000. Lindsay says they’re not far from hitting the mark:
