Scarborough Café Applies To Place 24 Chairs On Narrow Shopping Street

A new dog-friendly café in North Yorkshire has applied to place dozens of chairs outside its business.

The recently opened Koko Coffee in Scarborough town centre will place more than 20 chairs on the pavement outside the business if it wins approval for an outdoor seating licence from North Yorkshire Council.

The business opened its doors on July 25 and is located at 23, Huntriss Row in Scarborough town centre.

The business, which also has a café in Bridlington, has applied for permission to place six tables and 24 chairs outside for customers to use.

“This isn’t just brewing coffee and making great eats; it’s about finding that place where you and the entire family can relax and enjoy time together,” the business’s website states.

The council is currently accepting comments from members of the public regarding the application.

The deadline for representations by residents is Sunday, September 6.

The business is currently hiring additional staff and said:

“If you love great coffee, great people and want to be part of something special from day one, we’d love to hear from you.

“Whether you have hospitality experience or simply have a fantastic attitude and love looking after people, we’d love to chat.”

Anyone wishing to make representations regarding the application should give notice in writing to: North Yorkshire Council, Licensing Services, Town Hall, St Nicholas Street, Scarborough, YO11 2HG.

The authority can also be contacted by email at licensing.east@northyorks.gov.uk.

The council’s website states:

“It is an offence knowingly or recklessly to make a false statement in connection with an application punishable on summary conviction by an unlimited fine.”
