Scarborough Athletic Poised for Biggest Ever Emirates FA Cup Game

Scarborough Athletic play in the first round of the Emirates FA Cup for the first ever time this afternoon.

Boro will face League Two side Forest Green Rovers at the Flamingo Land Stadium.

There will be live commentary on the entire game in a special programme on This is the Coast, this afternoon from 2pm.

Chairman Trevor Bull says it's another big day for the club.

This afternoons first round Emirates FA Cup match at the Flamingo Land Stadium will be the first time in nearly 20 years that a league club has played FA Cup football in the town.

Chelsea were that last league club to face the old Scarborough side back in 2004. Trevor remembers the game well but can't beleive how long it's been since the club were in the FA Cup proper.

Trevor Bull - says playing in the first round proper is a big deal for the players.

Only two of Scarborough Athletic’s current players have ever played in the first round of the FA Cup.

Will Thornton and Michael Coulson are the only two to have first round experience, but club chairman Trevor Bull says they are being supported by a management team who have plenty of FA Cup pedigree.

Fans who have tickets for today's game are being urged to turn up early.

The game is a sell out with the club warning there could be long queues to get into the Flamingo Land Stadium.

Trevor Bull says the preparations for the game have been going on all week.

This game is SOLD OUT for Scarborough supporters, the match is also segregated and ALL-TICKET. For fans who don't have a ticket there will be live radio commentary on This is the Coast, this will be available on DAB digital radio and through the radio stations app.

Home supporters can access the ground, the Fan Zone and The Victory Bar from 12:30pm. The Fan Zone can be accessed quickest via the Boro Gate turnstiles.

The club say:

"Our brand new Fan Zone, located behind the Fortus stand will be open. Whilst still a work in progress, we are delighted that The Victory Bar will be open from 12.30pm, as well as a The Seadog Kitchen and coffee shack. We hope this will improve the fan experience and we hope you will support the club by supporting the Fan Zone.

The Fan Zone is limited to capacity and supporters should attend early before the Fan Zone meets capacity."

Due to regulations associated with playing a team at Step 1 and above, there is no alcohol to be consumed in view of the pitch for the duration of the game. Alcohol may still be consumed in the Victory Bar.
