The Seadogs battled Sheffield Wednesday U21 at their home for the coming season, Bridlington Town.
A new-look Mounting Systems Stadium saw Boro hold the young Owls side 1-1.
Ryan Whitley made a great save to deny the Championship side's youngsters in the opening seconds.
At the other end, Whitley's opposite number denied Steve Walker and cut out Harry Green's cross.
Wednesday nodded against a Boro post, before the hosts went ahead.

It was an error from the South Yorkshire side's keeper which saw Dom Tear grab the ball and chip home a minute before half-time.
The visitors made a strong start to the second half, firing wide moments into the restart and then forcing a fine double-stop from Whitley.

However, the Under 21s weren't to be denied and equalised with a great team goal for 1-1 on 54 minutes.
Newcomer Rio Allan blazed over late on for Boro but it stayed level as Jono Greening's men finish pre-season unbeaten.
Greening spoke to Paddy at full time:
