£370,000 of carriageway improvement works get underway today on the B1252 between Limekiln Hill, Sledmere, and the junction of Garton Hill with the A166, Main Street.
The works are expected to last for four weeks (weather permitting) and consist of strengthening the road edge where it has failed, prior to surface dressing later this summer.
The East Riding of Yorkshire council's contractor, Britcon Ltd, will be undertaking the works between 8:00am and 5:00pm (Mon-Fri) and will carry out the works in accordance with all COVID-19 regulations.
Due to the nature of the works, the carriageway will be closed to through traffic for the duration of the works. The signed diversion route will be via B1251- B1248 - and A166 Driffield Road/Garton Slack.
Residents and businesses within the works area will have limited access through the sites during the work to maintain safety for traffic and the workforce. The council and contractor will be consulting with local businesses and residents affected before the works begin.
An East Riding of Yorkshire Council spokesperson said:
"We would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience these essential works may cause, and ask for the patience and understanding of road users and residents whilst they are carried out."
