Scarborough Community Fridge are compiling a recipe book to encourage people to use ingredients that would be destined for landfill.
Established in October last year the Community Fridge is a volunteer run organisation aiming to help reduce food waste by redistributing food to the local community and is open to everyone.
Now the team behind the project are embarking on a project to create a cook book to help reduce food waste further by providing a useful collection recipes from the community.
Tony Bates from the Community Fridge said.
"Having seen people share on social media pictures of meals they have created from food collected we thought it was a great idea to put together a recipe book, with a focus on ingredients people might have left over.
We are appealing to the public, users of the service, local restaurants etc to send us their recipes, along with a list of ingredients and ideally a photo of the end result to fridgerecipes@icloud.com, including their name as they will receive a credit.
When completed the recipe book will be available to purchase for a nominal amount from The Street, where we operate from every Saturday from 10.30 until noon."
Tony will be editing the content and his business, Hotel Ellenby, will be acting as sponsor, ensuring all proceeds are retained by SCF.
