North Yorkshire Police say they are today continuing with efforts to find missing 73-year-old Douglas Watts who was last seen five days ago leaving Scarborough Hospital.
Footage from the hospital CCTV shows Douglas walking out of the main building at 09.30am before crossing the car park and turning on to Woodland Drive, heading towards Scalby Road. This is the last confirmed sighting of Douglas.
Douglas is described as a white man, approximately 5 foot 10 in height, medium build with short grey hair. He was last seen wearing a baggy beige jumper, blue jeans, brown shoes, carrying a bag and with a white bandage around his right lower arm.
It is possible that Douglas may have travelled towards Bridlington as he is from that area.
Over the weekend police say they have allocated extensive resources in the search to find Douglas. A police drone has been used to scour large open area and a Search and Rescue Team have also supported with activity on the ground.
Critical Incident Inspector Neil Canning from North Yorkshire Police said:
“We are extremely concerned for the welfare of Douglas who was last seen five days ago and are continuing with extensive searches and enquiries to try and find him.
“I would ask the public to remain vigilant and report any immediate sightings of Douglas on 999. If you live, work or were in the area around the hospital at 09.30am on Wednesday last week, I urge you to please check any dashcam or doorbell footage for any footage of Douglas.
“If you see Douglas, please call 999. If you have any other information or dashcam footage that could help find him, please call North Yorkshire Police on 101.”
