Bus services in North Yorkshire need passengers to continue using them in order to ensure their survival.
Passengers are the key to keeping the Yorkshire Coasts bus services operating.
That's the message from North Yorkshire County Council's Executive Member for Transport.
Councillor Keane Duncan says a fall off in passenger numbers has made many commercial routes in the county unviable including the 128 service from Scarborough to Helmsley, where timetable changes have been made to keep the service going.
Councillor Duncan says some changes have already been made to ensure services remain economically viable including on the 128 Scarborough to Helmlsey service where the frequency has been reduced to once every two hours.
Commercial bus operators have been under pressure since the end of the pandemic with passenger numbers failing to recover to pre-pandemic levels.
