New Whitby Field Study Centre Welcomes First Visitors

Whitby's new outdoor education centre will receive it's first visiting pupils this week.

The new study centre at East Whitby academy will welcome pupils from 32 different academies across the north of England across the school year.

Vice Principal - Megan Suggitt - says the centre will provide regular business for a number of local businesses.

The Strenshaw Field Study centre has been built at East Whitby Academy and will be used by schools from across the north of England for residential school trips.

The centre will be using local businesses to enhance the trips the children have including local chip shops, local ghost walks and boat trip.

Megan hopes the visits to the study centre will encourage the pupils families to make follow up trips to the town.

The centre was opened on Friday by Whitby born Cricketer, Adam Lyth, and one of the founders of the Enquire Learning Trust,  Ronnie Woods.
