Scarborough Art runs until the 4th of August and includes everything from stitching and textiles to jewellery making and pottery.
Scarborough Art is an exciting new event taking place at various venues across Scarborough town centre and beyond, running as a sister festival with the Scarborough Fringe.
Scarborough Fair director Julian Caddy, who says it's not just about seeing beautiful artwork:
It is an opportunity to visit different places and spaces around the area and discover work from across the creative community. It will also provide an online platform for people to browse and buy work via The Scarborough Fair website.
Artwork of a wide range of media will be showcased from paintings and sculpture to photography and printmaking. This event is perfect for art lovers of all ages to enjoy a day filled with creativity and inspiration. Come and celebrate the rich artistic heritage of Scarborough and find the hidden gems waiting to be uncovered. As well as exhibitions, several artists and makers across the town will be hosting workshops for visitors to take part in and create art of their own.
Julian says the location is key:
Scarborough Art trail is an open-access marketplace for you to present, display and sell your work. It can just be for display or as an invitation to discover other work, or perhaps an introduction to other activities that you may be doing year-round, such as classes or workshops. This is your tool to help you in your artistic ventures and everyone is welcome to register to take part, whether you are a professional artist, student, or an enthusiastic amateur. Registration is £5 for YO11, YO12, YO13 or YO14 residents, and £10 for everyone else. Sign up via The Scarborough Fair website.
Scarborough Art is also an opportunity for venues and businesses to host, programme or curate exhibitions or events that are tailored to what they want and of a style that they particularly like or suits their venue. Registrations are free for venues who sign up on the Fair website.
