North Yorkshire Fire Fighters are to get new high tech breathing kit.
The new equipment will connect to monitor stations in fire engines so that commanders can get real time data from fire fighters inside burning buildings.
Damian Henderson is director of service improvement, he says it's a big investment for the service.
North Yorkshire Fire service is to spend £1.7m on the new breathing apparatus for it's fire fighters.
The new kit will link to screens in fire engines so that data from the firefighters can be monitored in real time.
Damian Henderson says the technology has proven to be useful in other areas of the country.
