A long-abandoned building on Jewison Lane is set to become a focal point for local families as The Maltings, a new 59-bed luxury care home, prepares to welcome its first residents next week.
The facility, which represents an £8 million investment by the family-run Fisher Care Group, will officially open its doors for two special preview events this weekend.
The site was previously left incomplete by a different developer, but Fisher Care Group acquired the shell and oversaw a total luxury fit-out to provide residential, dementia, and respite care. According to the group, the project has created approximately 100 jobs for the local area.
Care Home Manager Rob Hall, who brings over two decades of experience in East Yorkshire health and social care to the role, noted that the facility meets a vital need for the community.
"Bridlington families have told us they need high-quality local care options so their relatives can stay close to home and community," Hall said. He explained that the new home allows older people to receive specialist support "without having to move away from the area they know".
The Maltings is equipped with high-specification features, including:
- Silver Shield assistive monitoring technology in every bedroom to detect falls or respiratory changes.
- Air conditioning and en-suite facilities in all 59 bedrooms.
- Bistro-style dining with a bar, a cinema room, a hair salon, and an orangery set within landscaped gardens.

The home also offers an all-inclusive fee structure, which the Fisher Care Group states is currently unique among care providers in Bridlington.
Operations Director Josh Fisher, representing the second generation of the family business, described the opening as a significant milestone as the company marks its 40th year. The group already operates other facilities in the region, including Whitby Court in Whitby.
"My father founded Fisher Care Group in 1986 with a vision for compassionate, community-based care," Fisher said. He added that completing the previously abandoned building to serve local families "honours that legacy and our commitment to Yorkshire communities".
The public is invited to explore the new facilities during a community open day this Saturday, 7 March. A separate event for healthcare professionals will be held on Friday, 6 March, before the first residents move in on Monday, 9 March.
The event for professionals on Friday will include the official opening of the home by local MP Charlie Dewhirst at 11am, Care Home Manager Rob Hall said
"This will be a wonderful opportunity to explore our home, meet our dedicated team, and learn more about the high-quality care, new technology and welcoming environment we provide.
We warmly welcome members of the community, local professionals, and business owners, including GPs, district nurses, social workers, care coordinators, discharge teams, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, community matrons, health and social care professionals, and local business owners.
Whether you are considering care options for yourself, supporting individuals and families in your professional role, or looking to build connections within the local community, we would be pleased to show you around and answer any questions you may have.
Light refreshments will be available throughout the day, and no appointment is necessary — just drop in at a time that suits you.
We look forward to welcoming you."
Families interested in care placements are encouraged to contact the home directly. More details can be found at https://www.fishercaregroup.co.uk
