A Yorkshire Coast Councillor raises concern over 101 call answer times but the police say the situation has "drastically" improved.
North Yorkshire Police say the amount of time it takes them to answer the non emergency 101 line has halved over the last 12 months.
The force says the average answer time is now 3 minutes.
However Eastfield Councillor - Tony Randerson - says he's heard of recent incidents where answer times were much longer.
Councillor Randerson says he's had complaints from local residents who spent 45 minutes on hold last week only to then be told to report the incident online.
Chief Superintendent Catherine Clarke says the force has made improvements.
Figures for June show that there were 17,605 calls to the 101 line in North Yorkshire, the average answer time was three minutes and eight seconds.
